Download the app

Get CloakID on the App Store (Google Play coming soon). Sign up with your real phone number — we'll verify it once, then keep it hidden forever.

Create your first persona

Tap Personas → "+". Choose a template or start blank. Pick an area code, confirm, and your new real US number is ready in seconds.

Set up screening rules

Open the persona → Protection Rules. Tell CloakID what this persona is for and who you expect to hear from. Screening adapts automatically.

Share the number

Tap "Share" to show a QR code, send a vCard, or text it from the persona. Your real number never leaves your phone.

Common questions.

Account & Setup
Do I need to verify my real phone number?

Yes, we verify once at signup to prevent abuse. After that, your real number is hashed and never shared with anyone you call.

How does the free trial work?

Every new account gets 7 days of full access with 2 personas. Cancel anytime in the App Store before the trial ends and you won't be charged. When the trial ends, pick a plan or your personas pause.

Personas & Numbers
Are CloakID numbers real US phone numbers?

Yes. Every persona gets a real US number that can send and receive real calls and SMS from any carrier. Nothing virtual or fake.

Can I pick my own area code?

Yes. During persona creation, enter a 3-digit area code. If a number isn't available, we'll pick the closest geographic match.

What are temporary personas?

Disposable 7-day numbers for short-term situations — selling something online, contractors, quick signups. When they expire, the number is permanently released.

Calls & Screening
How does call screening work?

When someone calls your persona number, an assistant answers first and asks who's calling and why. Based on your persona context, it decides to allow the call through, send it to voicemail, or block it.

Can I make outbound calls?

Yes — from any persona, with that persona's number as caller ID. Your real number is never exposed.

Does screening work for SMS too?

SMS goes straight through — we don't intercept text messages. You'll see every message your persona receives.

Billing & Account
How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancel through the App Store (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions). You keep access until the end of your billing period. Google Play coming soon.

How do I delete my account?

Open the app → side menu → Profile → Delete Account. Everything is permanently deleted and numbers are released. Full instructions on the delete account page.

Troubleshooting

Something not working?

Calls not coming through

Check your persona's screening rules — it may be sending unknown callers to voicemail. You can also add contacts as Approved Callers to bypass screening.

Not getting push notifications

Go to iOS system settings → CloakID → Notifications and make sure everything is enabled. Then force-close and reopen CloakID.

SMS not sending

Some carriers filter outbound SMS from new numbers. Wait 24 hours — most temporary blocks clear automatically. Contact us if it persists.

Billing issues

If you were charged unexpectedly, contact support@cloakid.app with your email and we'll sort it out immediately.
